The Flextone Deer Call creates incredibly realistic deer grunt sounds. The Flextone Deer Call is used to call deer from the woods during hunting season. I was heavily involved in the refinement phase of the exterior design of the deer call. The nature of the project created very strict parameters on the shape and size of the product to replicate realistic calls. I was tasked with creating an exterior design that matched the visual design language of the Flextone brand in conjunction with the tight parameters of its existing engineered shell.
Product Research & Form Development
01: Redesign Product
To improve upon the existing legacy product, I read online reviews of current deer calls to better under user issues and pain-points.
02: Intuitive Design
Most deer calls are not user friendly. Users often confuse the direction the call should be used. The design intent was to create an intuitive design for hunters of all experience levels.
03: Rugged Aesthetic
Developing a rugged aesthetic played an important role when creating the deer call. The aesthetics of the deer call embody visual elements of strength and durability.
Intuitive Form
The Flextone Deer Call uses forward moving directional lines that mirror the direction the air moves through the chamber of the call. This allows users to understand the orientation the call is positioned and used.
Ease of Use
The Flextone Deer Call features an oversized grip which allows users to easily grab the call in the dark without having to take their eyes off the field.
