Plano A-Series 2.0
Skills Used: Softgoods Design, Trend Research, Visual Branding, Photoshop, Illustrator
The Plano A-Series 2.0 is a refresh of the existing Plano A-Series tackle bag family. For this project, I was tasked with redesigning the existing five bag silhouettes. The project scope required that the new series would have more features for the user while staying below the production cost of the existing series.
Project Scope & Existing A-Series Family
01: Improve Product
The Brand Management team required the new generation of the Plano A-Series bags to have a more premium look and feel, while staying below cost of the original series.
02: Improve User Experience
Some features on the current
A-Series bags were either oversized or rendered obsolete to most users. To improve the user experience I spoke to avid fisherman to better understand their needs and wants.
03: Heritage Aesthetic
A-Series tackle bag line is known for it’s heritage look and feel. This look is geared towards the older more established angler. It was important to reinforce this in the new generation of bags.
Final Design
The newly designed bags feature an oversized zipper for improved durability and to allow the user to easily open the bag compared to a smaller sized zipper. In-addition to the upgraded zipper, webbing straps and pockets were placed only where the customer needed them. Leather zipper pulls and badges were added to the product to give the tackle bags a heritage look.
